Founded in 1979, the Aspen Art Museum is devoted to providing the Aspen community and visitors with outstanding programming in the visual arts. Changing exhibits, classes for children and adults, free lectures and other special events feature highly acclaimed artists, curators and program directors.

The Festival and School offers more than 200 musical events during its nine-week season, including symphony, chamber, opera, choral and family concerts. Venues for concerts include the Benedict Music Tent, Harris Concert Hall and the historic Wheeler Opera House. Season: June 21-Aug. 19.

Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, formerly Aspen Ballet Company, is a company of 11 classically trained dancers who perform an eclectic repertoire by some of the world's foremost choreographers. The company performs in Aspen and Santa Fe, and on tour nationally. Aspen Santa Fe Ballet is presenter of the summer Aspen Dance Festival and also serves as a comprehensive dance education center with Aspen Ballet School as its official school in Aspen.

In addition to its June and Labor Day Festivals, Jazz Aspen Snowmass offers the JAS Jazz Academy Summer Sessions (July 23-Aug. 3), the Essentially Ellington Band Director Academy in association with Jazz at Lincoln Center (June 27-July 1), and a variety of other community outreach programs.

Built in 1889, the Wheeler Opera House continues to be the center of Aspen's art scene. With more than 300 events annually, the Wheeler has something for everyone, from local performers to internationally recognized artists. Annual highlights include: the Wheeler Opera House performance series and educational programs; the Wheeler Film Society movie series; Aspen Center for Physics winter lecture series; Aspen Filmfest; Aspen Opera Theatre Center's operas; Aspen Dance Connection; The Broadway Players; the annual tribute to John Denver; the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival; and numerous community presentations.
